In humans, this disease has been known since scriptural times, but its occurrences in animals and birds are recent findings. In humans, influenza primarily causes increased flow of mucus through nose. Some of this mucus also flows in to the abdomen and lungs of the patient, causing severe breathing problems. For these reasons, influenza is considered as a disease and is cured through medication.
In fact, influenza is not a disease in itself, but an indication of existence of harmful microbes in the environment, the patient is breathing in. In human body, mucus is generated in the brain and keep on flowing downwards to every organ of the body to keep them moist and lubricated for actions. When the body senses presence of harmful microbes in the breath-in air, it sends signal to the brain to produce excessive mucus to the nose. This mucus gets deposited on the inner walls of nose and may even be flowing out of it. The purpose of this excessive mucus in the nose is to capture the harmful microbes present in the breath-in air and not allowing them to move to inner parts.
Sneezing is an essential part of this preventive process wherein the nose and throat areas are flushed out of microbes reaching these areas through fierce gusts of air. This is an indication that harmful microbes are existing not only in the environment but some of these have succeeded in entering the body and reaching the throat area. In conventional Indian medicines, sneezing is even artificially induced to flush out the nose and throat area of the body of harmful microbes entered through breathing.
Thus, influenza is not only an indication of presence of harmful microbes in the environment but also a natural way of arresting those trying to enter the body through breathing and ejecting them out. Therefore, treatments to occurrence of influenza is not desirable before treating the environment for cleansing it of harmful microbes, and before making the body immune to attacks of these microbes through providing some suitable antibiotic drugs to it.
So, next time you suffer from influenza, take care of your environment and immune your body before getting a cure for influenza.
