Human-Animal Relationship

About two weeks back, I purchased a she-goat calf for keeping it as a pet. I have been closely watching development of her relationship with me. The goat that was loyal and pet of somebody else is now mine to the extent that if she does not see me for some time, she starts crying. When I appear before her, she stands on her hind legs and supports her fore legs on by body to make a complaint of my absence and show her love to me. I discourage her for such a thing because I often have to go here and there and can not give her company for all the time of the day. In the beginning, I used to slap on her cheeks for discouraging her to expect me, but now I only need to show my hand to her to give her the same message. And she wonderfully understands my body language. But I have to do it almost every day which means that she has a short memory. I think because of this short memory only, she has forgotten her past master and treats me as her master now.

Animals may be less intelligent than human-beings but they are not cunning like the humans who think something else but may say just the reverse. So, animals are more reliable than the humans and their behavior is always on expected lines, unlike we humans.

There are three wild cats living in my garden who never come close to me and so never allowed me to touch them. Since, I have never disturbed them while being in the garden, they treat me like a harmless person. For this reason, if any of them come across my way, she/he just move a little distance and wait there to give me the way. They never demand or expect anything from me and feed themselves by hunting birds in the garden, like the birds feed themselves on insects available in the place. That is their way of life, so I never disturb them. In-spite of this, I can't say that they are loyal to me. After all, animals are inferior to humans so they don't consider that there is any use of their loyalty to us.

India is a country where too may of stray dogs are found on the streets and shitting everywhere and anywhere without any check by the human society. For this reason, I hate dogs and don't allow any in my presence. In-spite of this they often make my place dirty but always take care to run away fast if I am seen by them. They also recognize me and my hatred to them very well.

Another important thing I have noticed that the goat and the cats never disturb each other because they don't need each other as their food. So, animals intend to co-exist peacefully with each other provided they don't need others as their food.

This all shows that animals intend to coexist with humans and we must also respect their co-existence but discipline them to suit the humanitarian needs. Very clearly, animals understand the body language probably better than the humans.

I have to say this article is extremely insightful in the respect of the human-animal relationships. I agree with you on your last line. Humans can indeed surprise us with their ignorance towards the body language of his own kind.
