Relationships at Adolscence

The most sensitive phase of life is adolscence when the changes in body are fast and desires start raising their heads. At this stage, the person steps out of his/her childhood and enters the outer world of passions and relationships. A child is most often free from genderness and when he/she enters adolscence, signs of gender start appearing giving a feeling of exciting newness to the world.
Curiosity about newer things in the world and experimenting with these leads an adolscent to get connected to the world as fast as possible. Love for beautful things of his/her person and of the external world are the new discoveries of the person at adolscence. He/she gets more conscious about his/her dress, hair-style, and other parameters of looking physically attractive.
Desire of having more relationships with the outside world transmit an aroma to the atmosphere charging it with excitement all around. A process of sending feelers for knowing what the outside world thinks of his/her personality starts and the person becomes more conscious of his/her existence, looks and external impressions.
At this stage, the person may involve in any type of relationships if not guided properly by the elders and friends. More and more pregnancies of 13 year girls in US is the result of this sensitivity and the free society there. Diversion of mind to other things of the world like education, career, concerns for parents, etc. may, however, suppress this extra-sensitivity of the adolscent person.
Sensitivity to and desire for touches are the most often feelings in an adolscent at physical level, while at mental level he/she desires for feedbacks about the self from the outside world. These lead to new relationships of the person. Very often, an adolscent gets involved in a love relationship with somebody of the same age group. Naturally, his/her friend circle gets enlarged.

Select Your Words Carefully

Although only around 50 percent of human communication is through written or spoken words, the balance being through body language, it is the most effective communication channel. Its message is more definite and clear than that of body language.
For this powerful tool to be effective, one must be very careful in choosing his/her words in the message. The following rules apply -
1. In any language, no two words are synonym although their meanings may be close to each other. Were they synonym, they would not have evolved at all. Their very existence is indicative of their distinctive identities. Go deep in finding the meanings of similarly meaning words and use them in accordance to the context.
2. Use a language and words which are easily understood by the recipient. For this, first know or fix your target audience and tailor your message accordingly. As a general rule, no two categories of people take the same meaning out of a message. Subjectivity always works in understanding meanings of messages.
3. Make your wordy message gender-free as far as possible if it is meant for both the genders. Some linguistic barriers create hindrances in this respect. Like the words - his/her, he/she, etc. have to be used very carefully and probably both for the message to be gender-free.
4. A wordy message has the advantage of having minimum ambiguity while body language may have it. To make best use of this positive attribute of words, you have to be more careful in selecting your words.
5 Use your words economically. Redundant words in a message often add ambiguity, check them out. Less the words, more effective is the message.
6. Make your message, particularly the written ones, globally understandable. Use of local slangs in a written work limit its effectiveness. Remember that slangs often take different forms at different times even at the same location.
7. Be timely in a conversation and timeless in a written message as far as possible and as the case may be. Remember, your message written today may be read any time in the future and it should be fruitful at every time it is read. On the contrary, spoken words have to be timely and extremely tailored to suit the need.
8. Listen more than say in a conversation. This makes your messages more audience-friendly and easily understandable. If you have patience in a conversation, you will notice avoidance of a lot of redundancy of words.
By keeping these observable rules in your mind, you messages shall be more effective.

Relationships at Schooling

When a child enters a school, his first relationship is established with the teacher. Particularly, the child imitates his/her accent of pronunciation, handwriting and presentation style. All these impressions are the first inputs to his/her mind so he/she quickly assimilates these and remain in his/her mind for the whole of his/her life. This point is particularly important for the parents to take care of what type of teacher their ward is going to get in the school.
At home, he/she was mostly alone of his/her age and was getting unrestricted care of the parents. At school, he/she sees the teacher as substitution to his/her parent and expect the same treatment but does not get it. So he/she feels that his/her care and freedom of home gets restricted due to presence of other children, and sees them as his/her rivals. For this reason, his/her interactions with other children grow very slowly.
With aging, the child gets accustomed to school's environment and compromises with his/her freedom at home. This is his/her first systematic lesson of getting disciplined.
Although, every relationship puts some restrictions on individual's liberties, or in other words, disciplines him/her but with parents, the child does not feel the compulsion of it and he considers being assertive on his/her whims as his/her birthright. At school, his notion of being assertive gets molded into a social discipline.
At schooling level, the other important behavioral lesson to the child is of cooperation coupled with competition. Yes, these two contradictory traits are ingrained in the mind of the child simultaneously baptising his/her personality. These mutually opposite dualities of nature in general, and of life in particular, starts becoming part and parcel of his/her life.
The child cooperates with other children as a social element while he/she competes with them for his/her better survival and dominance on others. And thus, he/she gets trained to the life of an adult, at least in this respect. It is noteworthy here that a child's behavior at schools and that at home are quite incomparable.

Have a Garden in your Home

A cottage garden has an entirely different concept from a usual garden, because of its limitation of size and of plant varieties. Either poor sections of the society have cottages or these are owned by rich as an asylum to escape from the routine din of modern life. In both case, the common factor is small piece of land available for gardening. This puts an essential prohibition on having even a single tree in the garden. Another limitation on a cottage garden may be that of watering the plants. Since the space is limited, a cottage garden must be closely integrated with the cottage, and the passages should also be avoided not to waste land.

A cottage garden may have any or all of the three purposes - to supply fresh vegetables for the kitchen, to have some small fruit plants, and thirdly to have some flowers for beautification of the cottage. If water scarcity is the case and a wall or corner of the cottage is available for supporting garden plant, there is nothing like a bougainvillea shrub in the garden, providing a shower of flowers without needing much of caring and watering. It may also be used as a deterrent to intruders because of its thorns.

Papaya and banana plants suit a cottage garden, but these must be planted on the northern side of the garden in northern hemisphere and on southern side in the southern hemisphere of the globe to provide these with full sunlight and avoid their shades falling on the garden land. These plants start giving fruits in 1-2 years time and continue to do so for 3-5 years. Papayas must be planted in cycles so that some plants are always in a position of fruition. Regarding banana, care need be taken to remove the plant shoots after its fruit get matured to make place for newer shoots. Along with these, a lemon tree may also be considered because of its low height and early fruition.

On the vegetable front, cottage gardens can not afford experimentation, so only local and seasonal vegetables must be grown, including some leafys like spinach and amaranth; some beans like french-beans and pea; and some tubers like amorphophallus, carrot, radish, colocasia and artichoke. Artichoke plants grow upto a height of 2 meters so these should also be put on the fruit plants side.

A rose hedge of about 1 meter height on far boundary of the garden from the cottage side may be be a good idea for two reasons - to prevent intruders entry and to have beautiful red and pink flowers round the year. Choice of delicate and exotic flower plants is purely subjective to the garden’s local circumstances. Additionally, I recommend lavender plants in the garden for their mild sweet aroma.

Make sure that you have a small pit in the garden for your organic wastes from the garden and the cottage to get converted to compost manure without any efforts. Even cottage’s waste water may also be made to drop in this pit. For health and taste reasons, avoid using any chemical fertilizers in the garden.

Neighborhood Relationships

The evolutionary relationship of a child is with his/her neighbors - both children and adults. It is a great pleasure to have quasi-family type relationships with your neighbors. Remember, neighbors are the second help to you, after your family members, in case of an emergency. Urbanisation is robbing off the people of having this pleasure. In India's traditions, every neighbor is given a family-type relational name like chacha or tou (uncle), chachi or tai (aunty), bahin (sister), bua (aunty), bhai (brother), bhatija (nephew), etc.
One episode comes to my mind - I had a tau Mr Nand Ram Gupta, closely related to my family. He was popularly called as 'Gupta ji'. He had run away from home in his young age and became a political leader at his new place and was elected as Member of Legislative Assembly, U.P. in 1952. He returned home when he was old. Once, I addressed him as 'Gupta ji'. At this he scolded me and instructed me to always address him as 'tau ji'. Such is importance of neighborhood relationships artificially created. Such relationships goes on for generations sequentially.
In new urban settlements, people come to inhabit from different places and hardly interact with each other for years, so remain unknown to each other. This unfamiliarity is not realized unless one is in a crisis and finds none to help. I have experienced Americans are better in this respect. They say a smiling hello to every new face the come across. The British are very conservative in socializing with new faces.
Now, what is the best to be done when you face a new face in your neighborhood ? Give a welcome smile and say hello, or greet in your local language with a relational address such as brother, sister, uncle, aunty, etc. and observe his/her response. If it is reciprocated well, introduce yourself to get the introduction in return. From here starts evolution of a new relationship.

Having a Meal and There-after

Health is above-all, and way to good health goes via the food we eat. Firstly, I would like to say about what to eat. A simple vegetarian food consisting of preparations made from cereals, pulses and a little bit of vegetables for their fiber content, is the best for humans. The cereal should be seasonal - wheat from April to December, and maize and/or pearl-millet from December to March. Similarly, intake of pulses should also be seasonally scheduled as far as possible. A mix of two/three pulses of the same grain size and produced in the same season provides better proteins to the body.
Now, a warning for Indians about vegetables - take only home-grown vegetables because the vegetables produced commercially and available in markets have a lot of toxic substances from chemical fertilizers, pesticides and insecticides, dirty irrigation water and most importantly the poison injected for faster growth. When it comes to choosing a vegetable, preference should be given to those which remain eatable in their ripened condition, like tomato.
Similar warning is applicable to taking milk and other dairy products unless you are sure of its being free from toxic substances. In India, most of the dairy products are being prepared from synthetic milk made from urea and other chemicals.
A locally produced and seasonal fruit a day is a must to cleans the body of anti-oxidants and hence for keeping good health.
A lot of bakery products are now available off-the-shelf to be added to food. But find out what fermenting chemical is used in these. In India, it is often Sodium Bicarbonate. Its regular intake in food weakens your bones and particularly the teeth. So, better avoid bakery products in India.
There can be no fixed rule for how much water is to be taken every day because it depends on type of food and the local climate. But, take sufficient water before, in-between and after every meal, so that the food intake is thoroughly liquefied to get digested. Remember, our digestive system absorbs only liquefied food intake only.
Never sit idle or lie down immediately after the meal, but walk slowly for about 100 meters. This will eject out any air bubbles entered into the belly during meal intake. After the walk, lie down on a comfortable flat bed with your face and chest upwards for 5 to 10 minutes. Then change to right side and stay there for 10-20 minutes, and finally to the left for about 15-30 minutes. In the last step, you will notice ejection of gases from the digestive system. That is all to set in the digestion process in your body. Get up and look after your work.

Evolution

A development induced or forced by circumstances is called an Evolution. In nature, it takes place everywhere and has been taking place all the time at micro as well as macro levels of experiences. Suppose, your wife sent you to buy vegetables and on the way you meet an old intimate friend whom you had not seen for a long time. You miss buying vegetables and spend time with your friend till late hours and ome back home empty-handed. The vegetable cooking for dinner was thus got cancelled. It is an evolution at micro level.
At macro level, life originated near a sea-shore as miute creatures. Some moved into the sea while some other moved on the land. Both types gradually evolved as sea fishes and land animals, respectively, over thousands of years of circumstantial inducements and compulsions. This is an evolution at macro level.
Evolutionary developments often need no designed efforts of the performers, except their struggle for happy survival in the circumstances.

Managing your Stresses

Temporal worries and anxieties affecting a person’s routine life activities due to setbacks in life are called stresses. It is a mental phenomenon so it attacks people with weak psychological built-up. Stresses are different from depression which is a long-lasting disease caused by repeated stresses on the mind of the person. Therefore, to avoid advent of depression, it is essential that the person manages himself well during strokes of stresses.

Another important difference between the states of depression and stress is that a stress is caused by a failure of an effort while the depression often creates a fear of failure even before putting efforts. So, a stress is a soft temporary phenomenon and the person can easily manage himself during stress period. In a state of depression, the disease needs be managed while in a stress, it is the person who has to manage himself.

A most common symptom of stress is the person loses temper fast even without a sufficient cause. Other symptoms include headache, sleeplessness and a tendency to run away from the prevailing circumstances.

Relaxation is antonym to stress with the difference that the relaxation may be of body and/or mind while the stress involves mind only. So to overcome stress, one has to relax mentally. Since a stress often causes headache, the person tends to take some pill for curing headache which is very much undesirable. The headache pills often weaken mind which gets more prone to get stressed. A few suggestions to overcome stress are outlined here :

1. Pump in more oxygen to mind through heavy breathing to give it strength to bear stress comfortably.

2. Change your environment from modern concrete jungles to a green garden or a park. Greenery nourishes mind through eyes looking at pleasant things.

3. Have a good sex-play if you can afford it without adding to your worries and anxieties. It enhances blood circulation in the body and diverts your mind from anxiety.

4. Relax for about half an hour in a bath tub too cool down your body and hence the mind.

5. Laugh the stress out by meeting your friends who are good at joking and laughing. A favorite music or a comedy will not be out of place in a stressed condition.

6. Write down the cause of your stress to make it crystal clear to your mind and relax.

7. A cup of black coffee or a lemon-tea will certainly be helpful in relieving you from the stress.

Communicate Effectively - Voice Control

Your communication is what the other person gets from you, and not what you said. In every communication, transfer of message is more important than its statement. So, for communicating effectively, you have to stress on yourself so that the other person receives your message well. The first and the foremost medium of communication is the voice, which we deal here.

Personalized communication is the most frequently used in human societies in routine conversations at homes, in offices, in marketplaces, and every where else where ever people reside or work. In-spite of its overwhelming significance, little research work has been done on this type of communication. It is also the genesis of human communicability.

The first component of communication is the voice of the individual, which is composed of a wide spectrum of frequencies of the sound waves, females having higher frequencies than the males. Span of the frequency band matters little in voice quality but its coverage of the whole band of frequencies (with no gaps in between) is important. This requires flexibility of the sound organs of the individual. A youthful and healthy body often has higher flexibility of sound organs.

Just realize why you get attracted by some voices and distracted by some others – this attribute of voice is called ’sweetness’, with ‘harshness’ as its opposite. Sweetness of voice of the communicator attracts and influences the other partner of conversation to a larger extent than that of harshness of voice. This sweetness comes naturally and may be cultivated using medicines and exercises.

A calm mind produces a sweet voice while an agitated mind works the opposite way. The mind remains calm if it is clear and sure of the subject, which needs a wider knowledge-base of the communicator.

Another aspect of an effective voice is clarity of words used in the speech, for which the words of a sentence should be isolated and not joined with each other with accent on its certain syllables. It makes the conversation slower but makes it more effective. Such a clarity may be achieved through practising intentional separation of words while speaking. For example, just consider – ‘whatizyourname’, which although gives the impression of ‘what is your name’ but is not the correct way. The right way of pronouncing it is – ‘what_is _ your_name’ which breaks the sentence into two phrases (what_is and your_name) distinguishable individually in the voice.

Our voice organ gets automatically trained by listening. That is why born-deaf persons are dumb also. So, listening to a good voice makes one a better communicator. For this purpose, audio programs are available in the market for training the voice through making one to listen. Impact of mother’s voice is the most important factor for effectivity of a child’s voice.

Knowing Your Innate Potential

Depending on one’s heredity, educational background, social environment and will to learn and grow, everyone of us has some special talent within, called the innate potential, which may remain unharnessed for want of circumstances congenial for these talents to blossom, and lack of awareness of the person about his talents and hence lack of self-confidence to perform in the field. For this reason, it is essential that you recognize your potential and the field in which it may be applied. Once, this awareness comes, the next step of unlocking the potential for application becomes easy. Move on..

1. Know yourself

Knowing oneself is more intricate an exercise than knowing others close to you. It is just like seeing other’s faces but not of the self. Your circumstances may not be providing you an opportunity to know yourself for two reasons – you may not be having time to contemplate on yourself – being very busy with your routine activities, or your preoccupations may not be suiting your innate potential keeping you in dark about that. So, first step of knowing yourself involves your isolation from the current routines, may be even for a short duration. Go on a holiday trip, or take leave and enclose yourself in a peaceful room for meditation on yourself. Then, sit quietly and peacefully and ask yourself – what is it you want to do or you like to do? Ask this question again and again in different sessions and take brief notes of the answers you get from within. Mind it, the question is not – what you want to become, or what you would like to be? Such a question colors your answer with your ambition which may not be realistic. You have to know about field of your best performance, not your role.

Study your notes, so taken, critically and find out if there is any coherence. If so, you are tentatively right in judging about your potential. However, if there are sharp contrasts in your answers you got in different sessions, you need to repeat the exercise until you find a coherence in your answers.

2a. Try yourself in practice

Often, we have misunderstandings about our potential due to our ambitions, leading us to over-confidence. So, after getting the answer for ‘what you would like to do?’, you must try your capability in practice. Take up a matching assignment and see the results of your performance. If it is below average, you may be wrong in your assessment in the first step, so go back to the first step and retry. If your performance is above average, you seem to be correct, but find out why your performance has not been better. Do you have a confidence to improve it with more trials, or you feel helpless. If in the first condition, retry yourself and see if you improve your performance. Trying yourself in practice may not always be possible, so you will have to adopt other ways to do that.

2b. Try yourself through a case-study

Take up a case study of your likely field. Such case studies are available in good textbooks of the subject in which the readers are posed with problems to suggest their solutions. These case studies also consist of performance parameters which tell you about your performance in the field. Below average performance is again a warning to you that you are trying yourself in a wrong field. if so, go back to step 1 above.

3. Consult an expert

Expert advice is available, particularly in the western world, on what is the best field for an individual to work. Consult such an expert – often a
psychologist, to know your potential and to remove your misunderstandings about yourself.

4. Set a Level for Yourself

Just like everybody not suiting every field, every body is not suitable to work at all levels. I know a person who was a good field worker in financial matters. For some very special reasons, he was made General Manager of Operations in the same field of finance. There he failed miserably and was fired soon. Peter Principle – ‘Everybody tends to grow to his level of incompetence also indicates towards the same phenomenon’. So be careful, suppress your ambition of reaching the top quickly. Have patience to gain more exposure, and start working at a level most suitable to your background and self-confidence.

5. Feel yourself

In the new assignment, feel yourself. Does your inner-self feels satisfied, and do you have confidence on yourself to overcome all hurdles of the new field with pleasure. If so, you are on the way of unlocking your innate potential. All the best.

Understanding and Avoiding Depression

In the simplest words, existence of negative thoughts or feeling of nothingness is called depression, a depressive disorder, or a clinical depression. Its beginning is psychological intruding into thinking, behaving and working arenas of the person. It is also related to low blood pressure, when the brain does not get adequate blood supply and hence the nutritions. Since, the brains regulates the body functioning, depression adversely affect body also in more than one ways.

Failures in endeavours, resulting in unfulfilled ambitions; a mishappening raising a question on existence in the persons mind is a major cause of depression. Inadequate diet and absence of rest to body and mind, add weight to depressive state.

A depressive disorder involves both – body and mind, affects how the person behaves and thinks, and causes a variety of physical and emotional problems. A beginning of the worst starts with a feeling that life just is not worth living. The patient may experience frequent fatigue, headache and other vague aches and pains.

If not cured and taken care of through diet and lifestyle in its first incidence, it is likely to become chronic, and may even lead to deadly inertia in the body and mind, and even suicide. Since, it is principally a psycholgical disorder, a self-hep is not enough but is essential. A professional’s help is highly desirable.

Coping with depression is quite challenging because it breaks down the patient’s will to struggle to survive – essential for a normal living. It makes it hard for the patient to engage in behavior and activities that may help him feel better. Even then, following measures may easily be adopted for a normal life.

Curative Measures :

  1. A simple lifestyle with minimum obligations, leisurely schedules and easily achievable goals.
  2. Writing down feelings of pain, anger, passion, and emotions in a diary.
  3. Company of sociable (non-teasing) friends and family members. Loneliness and company of persons with depressive syndrome is to be avoided.
  4. The life-spirit take birth from the food one eats. Simple, healthy diet is to be adhered to. Foods containing Omega-3 fatty acids help in reducing depression which are found in sea-foods, walnuts, flax-seeds and flax-oil.
  5. Own determination to come out of the depression is a must. It must become the goal of life for the time-being.
  6. Recreation and entertainment with a relaxed mood are very helpful. Avoid situations which generate mental stress.
  7. Organising the daily activity schedules in the first hour of the day eliminates possibility of missing things and repenting and getting stressed.
  8. Consultation with other reliable persons on important decisions makes the patient free from lone accountability and responsibility, reducing his botheration.

Preventive Measures :

  • Knowledge is the greatest weapon of humanity to fight all sorts of enemies including depression. So, knowledge about causes, symptoms and cures of depression proves very helpful.
  • Whenever a difference in behavior and attitude is noticed, it must be investigated and suitably amended.
  • Lethargy is a reason for unwanted thoughts which may be depressive also. If there is not much of work to do, walking, jogging, swimming, gardening, etc. may be taken up to remain active.
  • Alcohol and other intoxicating substances lead to mental lethargy and disorders including depression. These must be made untouchable for a healthy life.

Keep your Logic Active for Mental Health

It is a common human experience that our physical bodies get strengthened and mental faculties get sharpened with usage. Application of this experiential fact to life is very important to remain mentally healthy.

Human brain has two important functions to perform – storing information in memory as experiences, and processing these information to draw conclusions. The second function is also called logic. We can’t move even a single step unless our brain provides us signals to move on – consciously or sub-consciously. This signalling is often done through use of conscious functioning of the brain. This functioning involves information processing and drawing conclusions, hence is a time-consuming process.

But there are situations, when we work at sub-conscious level, particularly in matters to which we are accustomed as a matter of habit. In such situations, the brain’s logical functioning is not activated. This is done to save delays in body’s reflexes to deal with emergency situations without any loss of time. This natural gift of sub-conscious functioning of the human body is designed to deal with body’s autonomous functioning such as breathing, blood circulation, digestion, providing relief to eyes through blinking, etc. But humans make misuse of this sub-conscious functioning through programming the body to get accustomed even for matters for which it was not intentioned.

Adolf Hitler’s honest declaration that even the greatest of lies can be made to be believed by masses through repetitions until it reaches their sub-conscious levels. This is what I call as mischievous programming of the bodies of others to function at sub-conscious level without any reference to logical functioning of the brain.

I call it a mental sickness when even external to body functions are loaded on sub-conscious mind to perform without any use of logic. This weakens our mental faculties due their regular disuse, making us a degraded human-being. My stress here is not to misuse our sub-conscious mind for things which are external to metabolism of the body, and use our conscious mind to make it more and more useful to us hence remain brilliant as it has evolved for us.

White Oats for Overall Health

White Oats is one of the most precious foods from health point of view. It is a cereal having a place between barley and rice as far as its cultivation and form are concerned. It has a grass-like plant growing to about 1 meter height with a pinnacle at the top. The pinnacle has rice-like grans wrapped in a fibrous shroud like barley. While barley is ground to fine flour and then screened to isolate the grain flour from uneatable fiber to make chapatis, white oats grains are not powdered but their fibrous shell is removed by machines and then the grains are converted to porridge form for human consumption.

White Oats porridge takes about 5 minutes boiling in water or milk to get ready for consumption duly sweetened. Apart from popular recipe of porridge, oats could even be consumed in flour and bran form also. White oats has a good natural balance of fat, protein, carbohydrates, and most importantly the soluble fiber. It is low in saturated fats and cholesterol. It reduces cholesterol in our body and cleans the digestive system. It is scientifically reported to be good for heart also and this finding is approved by US Food and Drug Administration (US FDA).

Heart diseases have a direct relationship to cholesterol level in the body, which is a fatty substance found in food items and also produced by the liver. Meat, poultry, sea-food and dairy products are high in cholesterol. Cholesterol helps the body in production of certain harmones and breakdown of fats for easier digestion. But when its level in the body goes up, it enters blood streams leading to their clogging and ultimately a heart attack. Cholesterol level in the blood is measured through a blood test called lipoprotein profile. Its desirable level is less than 200 milligram per deci-liter of blood.

Lead the People

Leaders are those who are acknowledged by other people, whatever status they may have, by adopting seriously to their ideas, valuing and following their suggestions for action and turning to them for advice in hour of need. So, real leadership is not only a matter of mere formal authority, it is an innate attribute of an individual which may be cultivated. Opportunities to lead a team or an organization do not necessarily depend on one’s formal authority over the team or venture but always exist for everybody in the team. For taking advantage of these opportunities, one has to step forward and contribute value to the project or enterprise, which will make him a leader of the team in his own right. To become a leader in your own right even without an authority, following steps may be helpful in leading the team one is participating in or the project one is involved in.

1. Do what is being ignored by others

Often finer points of a job are missed by working people. Finding these out needs anticipation and contemplation on actions and their results. Take care of these in advance and point out these to others in the team to take care.

2. Don’t look for conventions but devise your own ways

Conventions are results of long experiences and are often useful but these work as road-blocks also on the path of innovations and improvements. Normal persons prefer following conventions but leaders always look for better ways of doing things for which there are no limits.

3. Keep your sight on the goal

In every action, goal should never go out of focus which often happens in long tedious jobs. But as leader, keep the goal always in mind. Needless to say that goal must be clearly defined before taking up the venture preferably in writing in concise but explicit form.

4. Add every action to your experience

There is no teacher greater than one’s own experience earned through actions. So while performing, go on adding to your experience and hence the learning. Take notes of major developments to make a niche in your mind.

5. Follow logic but never forget importance of articulation

Cause and effect principle takes us to all-pervading logic, but this is not all while working practically. Articulation goes much beyond anticipated logic and provides to the job a unique status. So use both science as well as art of working. Spread the job in minor details step by step in advance and anticipate its intricacies and their remedial measures.

6. Discuss the matter with open mind and appreciate others’ point of views

Never hide your views from others to keep monopoly over them, but openly discuss them with your colleagues. Then only, they will trust you and look for your advice whenever needed. Always keep your mind open to new approaches even from the lowest ranking workers and take them into consideration while deciding the final course of action.

7. Keep on reviewing the progress

Unforeseen contingencies often come up while executing a project which need to be taken care of to avoid major a crisis at the end. For this, every action and its result needs to be reviewed mentally to keep things on schedule and work in order simultaneously taking care of minor contingencies. With all these points, you will not only finish the project well but will also establish your supremacy on other members of your team and you will get noticed. pixelstats trackingpixel

Be Creative

Creating something means bringing something into existence what was not there before from the available raw materials. Creativity is unique to humanity not found in other species of life on earth. It provides immense satisfaction to the creator making him happy and hence healthy.

Every one of us has an instinct for creativity but circumstances and lack of self-confidence prevent us from creating something. To overcome these hindrances, we have to be decisive and determined to devote time for creating some pieces of arts or something of our daily use.

Creating does not necessarily means becoming a renowned painter or a film director, even a housewife producing some vegetables in her kitchen garden is a creator because this also provides her satisfaction of a creator. Writing a poem or a nice prose is a creation of the highest order. So for becoming a creator, it is only the time and our will which are necessary. Unbounded opportunities are always there all around us for our creativity to work.

Role of a creation does not end just by finishing the job, it becomes an immortal association not only between the creator and the creation but also all others around who get inspired for creating something by themselves.

Enjoy Your Senior Age

At every age, memory lapses are normal, even universal. But they do increase with age, even in people with healthy bodies and brains. So this should not be cause of worry for any body unless it affects normal living. Even then, it is always better to take precautions. Here are a few ways to compensate for your slips in memory :

1. Make notes

Planning is important for all sorts of people. To remember your plan of action, make list of jobs to be done in chronological order. Jot down notes to yourself to deeply engrave the information in your brain. Organize your life using a calendar and note on it your appointments and obligations.

2. Do Mental Rehearsals

For complex jobs to be done, apart from making notes, think on doing the things in the order they must be done. This will not only be remembered by you but also inform you if you have any mistakes in your planning.

3. Organise your work place

If you have set places for everything in your work place, you will not only remember where to find the thing you need, but will also spare your mental energy for other more important functions ahead.

4. Relax naturally

Natural foods, appropriate rest, and most importantly enough sleep are important for your body and mind to remain alert and functional at all times of your working. Artificial means of getting sleep, use of alcoholic drinks and sedatives to reduce tension paralyze your mental faculties slowly and gradually. So, avoid all such things.

5. Avoid anxieties

Anxiety is the biggest non-physical cause of memory-loss. It not only pre-occupies your mind blocking its normal functioning, it serves no purpose. Just think, past is not going to return back, and the future has not yet come. What is left for you is the present moment which you can enrich by working happily and efficiently.

The last thing you need is to be distracted by worry or anxiety.

6. One thing at a time

No body can do many things at a time, what is often done is to mix-up many jobs and keep them doing part-by-part in turn. With this method, you lose a lot of your energies in transitions from one job to another. Also, each such job misses your focussed attention and hence fails to get engraved in your memory.

7. Keep your vision and hearing in proper form

Most of the external stimulus enter our mind through eyes and ears, which get weak in old age. But there are artificial aids – spectacles and hearing aids, are available. By keeping these organs sensitive, you will always be sure of the stimuli and your memory will have lower chances of slippage.

8 Never be shy to ask

In case of doubts, don’t guess but frankly ask others to remind you. It is neither a sin nor thing to be ashamed of. This will put you in the other’s eyes as an honest person.

Get Inspired

Nothing can inspire you unless you are willing to accept. So try to get inspirations from some great personalities of the past or from the persons you know and appreciate. This will improve your life, your thinking and your wellness. For selecting some inspiring personalities, you must first study yourself – your fields of interests and work. You will find that in the fields, there have been some great personalities who have done pioneering work. Study their biographies and find out what was so special in their personalities which made them great and attracted you also. Take note of these special features and if possible, make some notes on these to engrave these details into your mind.

Then think coolly and set your agenda for life, and start working on this as soon as possible. You will notice a drastic change in your lifestyle and thinking under influence of your inspiring personalities. For faster influence, procure some pictures of personalities of your liking and hang these on walls of your living or working room. These images will go on reminding you of right steps if you drift under some evil influences.

Health is Above-All

I am of the opinion – if wealth is gone nothing much is gone, if character is gone something is gone, but if health is gone everything is gone, and so put health above all for every creatures. This is so because a bad health prevents all pleasures of life reaching the creature.

Health may be defined as a life free from all diseases, ablity to lead a normal life under one’s circumstances, capability of enjoying normal food, normal sex and normal existence in the society, and capability of performing physical and intellectual exercises. Thus, health is nt limited to one’s physique only but essentially includes mental state also. Search for a single parameter for good health ends with overall happiness.

Happiness, up to some extent, is a matter of choice in a normal humanistic society. But present circumstances in the world are not very humanistic, because commerce has taken over control of human life leaving humanistic values much behind. So even if one choses to be happy and contented with whatever he/she has, the society all around him is all out to disturb his contentment and hence the happiness. So to remain happy, one has to be on alert continuously to safeguard his happiness. This alertness is built-in in every human’s mind which keeps on probing surrounding environment all the time and take care of the body in case of any contingency. This again put emphasis on mental health as an essential component of overall health and happiness.

For keeping a good health, one need not to do anything in particular, but to avoid particular things such as intoxication, avoidance of normal circumstancial factors such as food, clothings and climate. Leading a very normal life makes the body more adaptable to circumstances. Over-precaution in any respect degenerates body’s capability to adapt leading to many types diseases.

Normal locally produced and seasonal foods are basic to a good health. Avoiding these is going to lead to some sickness and conversely, if such foods are suiting an individual he certainly has some sickness. Cereals, pulses, vegetables and fruits are main components of human food which are available everywhere. But be careful, individually none of these is a complete food but a mix of all these is essential for good health. As I said above, commerce has overtaken human values, this is applicable to commercially produced food items also. Too much use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in a bid to produce more, is a curse to humanity and a sure cause of diseases. For this reason, a house garden becomes necessary for every family to be happy and healthy, in which al least vegetables and fruits may easily be produced using organic methods. This is particularly important from the intellectual point of view.
