Capability : Your Door to Possibilities

This morning, I, along with a friend of mine, visited a friend of the friend in his native village of which he is the democratically elected Premier. This Premier is hardly educated, fond of drinking and accustomed all the traditional corrupt practices of Indian governance and the society. As premier, he is manipulating a lot of public funds which he is consuming in liquors for himself and his close associates. In return, his young son has also become a drunkard.

My friend told the Premier that I was a candidate of Premiership for my village in the forthcoming Panchayat elections in U.P. state of India. Additionally, he was informed that I belong to a community having only one family in the village, am dead honest but very capable in handling public affairs fairly, and that I shall be in the fray without spending any money on distribution of liquor bottles to voters.

The said Premier gave his forecast - I shall get defeated in the election for two reasons : for belonging to a minority and for not distributing liquor bottles to voters. Secondly, if I get elected, I shall fail miserably in handling the corrupt government machinery for my honesty. Looking at the present conditions all around in India, his forecasts seems to be true. But there are other possibilities also which our friend fails to visualize for his very limited capabilities.

Indeed, tremendous and unforeseen possibilities always exist all around us but these could be visualized through capabilities only. A person suffering from short-sightedness can't see beyond a few centimeters from his eyes, while another person with normal vision, can see many decameters away from his position. But a person with a telescope supporting his eyes can see many kilometers away from himself. This proves that every one of us knows a possibility entirely dependent on his capability. Thus, our capability is the door of our seeing a possibility.

Although, everything may not be possible at a certain time, experiences of our routine lives prove to us that an impossibility exists for the existence of an incapability. As such, we may not create a possibility out of an impossibility but certainly we can acquire a capability to do that.

NAPOLEON BONAPARTEWhen Nepoleon said that word 'impossible' is found in the dictionary of fools, his fools are incapable persons in the subject field. Nobody is born with all the capabilities and with all the possibilities. Both of these are always built gradually over their lifetimes by the individuals with support from their social circumstances. And most importantly, any body can acquire capabilities to make things possible through dedication and intellect-supported hard work.

People fail in their endeavors for lack of their capability in the field of endeavor. Therefore, for succeeding in an endeavor, one is needed to first open the door to the possibility through acquiring the desired capability. For this reason 'first deserve then desire' is the fundamental principle of success.
