Pledge to Keep the Heart Healthy

Although everybody with a sickness says about his/her particular sickness, "This is the worst sickness, ..." but heart being a feeder of nutrients to every sell of the body, its sickness is the most dangerous to survival and keeping it healthy is the most vital to a happy, healthy living. It is simple and easy to keep your heart in good health, provided you care to prevent the sickness of heart rather than curing a sick heart.

Some tips about keeping the heart healthy, as provided by Billion Hearts Beating are -

  1. Quit smoking,
  2. Check your cholesterol regularly,
  3. Check your blood pressure regularly,
  4. Keep your diabetes under control,
  5. Keep your weight under tab through exercising,
  6. Give up fried foods and take more of fruits and vegetables,
  7. Get enough sleep, and lastly
  8. Keep on smiling.
For a simple lifestyle, tips 6 to 8 of above are the most important. Health comes to habit through spreading smiles all around. Every organ of our body, including heart, needs a balance in its inputs through foods and outputs through exertions. About eating habits, intake of fruits and vegetables help the heart in multiple ways -
  • Fiber contents in fruits and vegetables keep the food non-sticky and its flow in the body smooth and natural. It prevents formation of unwanted gasification in the abdomen and intestines.
  • Fruits and vegetables contain anti-oxidants which drain out unwanted sludge from the body, thus making the blood-flow non-sticky keeping the heart healthy and happy.
  • Taking locally produced seasonal fruits and vegetables in diet provides all the essential minerals and other nutrients to the body to meet its timely needs, thus keeping it healthy.
A good sleep, just enough to provide full rest to the body and brain, provides opportunity to mind to maintain and repair body's worn-out tissues thus rejuvenating the person for facing the tough world boldly.

Smoking pollutes one's respiratory channel and lungs, blocking provision of enough of pure oxygen to the blood and making it less nutritive and inviting many a diseases of the body.
Cholesterol Down: Ten Simple Steps to Lower Your Cholesterol in Four Weeks--Without Prescription Drugs

Cholesterol and blood-sugar make the blood vessels narrow increasing blood pressure of the person and thus over-burdening his/her heart with harder pumping activity. Excesses of these substances in the blood are not felt directly, needing their pathological check-ups at regular intervals to keep the blood pressure normal and natural.

Hence, take a pledge to keep your heart healthy. I have done that.

How Pleasure Works

Yet another instinct of humans comes to my mind and that is 'seeking pleasures' after the two most vital instincts of survival and reproduction. Another human instinct, I discussed earlier is curiosity.

'Seeking pleasures' takes the humans to 'essentialism' which means identifying essence of something as pleasurable. For this, we bother little about what a thing really is but take it as what we think about it and what value of it provides us pleasure. For example, we take sex-play as a media of getting pleasure without considering its bitter aspect of impregnating the women whose pains she is to bear for nine months and may be later for the whole of her life.

Most of the human pleasures are found accidentally by our actions of finding something else. It works like scientific developments most of which are invented/discovered accidentally while trying to research something else. Once in my home, I found an old photograph of a small boy and my mother told me that the photograph was of my boyhood. I got immense pleasure out of it and preserved the photograph for a long time, although I could not identify anything in the photograph looking like me.

Odd or non-routine things also provide pleasures to us at least for the time-being. If we have not seen a thing before, we may have no relationship with it, but we enjoy seeing it because it has not been a part of our routine existence. This means that for seeking pleasures, we try to run away from our realities.  A tiny black mole on a woman's face is considered to be a beauty spot although it exists there as a skin abnormality which we never accept.

So, most of our pleasures emanate from our being irrational. For example, out of our two clothes having the same applicability, durability, sobriety and sophistication, we enjoy wearing one that had cost us more. This, in essence, means that we are made to pay for our pleasures and we do it with pleasure.
Pleasure

It is noteworthy here that pleasure is different from happiness. A pleasure is most often time bound while the happiness is immortal essence of life. A thing seen for the first time may provide us immense pleasure, but seeing it regularly may prove boring. Pleasures emanate from our superficial sensory perceptions while happiness is a matter of thinking process.

Supplementary and Complementary Characteristics in Man-woman Relationship

All inter-personal relationships may be put in two broad categories - complementary and supplementary while in a supplementary relationship, each one adds to attributes of the other.  A relationship is said to be complementary when each of the related compensates for deficiencies of the other. The most glaring example of a complementary relationship is that between a man and his woman. None of them is complete without the other and each one is providing his/her attributes to overcome deficiencies of the other. Does it mean that ideal husband and wife have nothing in common. Not exactly.

Every man has some female attributes and female some male attributes. So, none is a perfect male/female. Or in other words, every individual has some male+female characteristics which they supplement for one another. Thus, a right match shall be supplementing common attributes of each other and complement the other attributes. Since, common attributes are of small nature as compared to the non-common attributes of the two, it may be perceived that men and women have their exclusive characteristics and they complement each other.
Of Vice and Men

Women are tender - physically and emotionally while the men are harsh both ways. Tenderness is necessary for happiness while harshness is required for facing dangers to survival. Thus, both of these attributes are needed for survival of humanity with happiness in the crude regime of nature. No one - men or women, can survive happily without the other.  Same logic holds good for other complementary attributes of man and woman.

Thus, in characteristics which are common in both man and woman, they supplement each other while in others they complement each other's deficiency. Couples with similar supplementary attributes pull on well with each other, otherwise they fell apart. Thus, supplementary attributes play more important role in establishing harmony within the couple.

Novelty of Experiences for Health and Happiness

Every novelty added to life and its experience makes the person healthy and happy through awakening curiosity in it and thus making the person more lively. This also follows from common experience of active and alert life making one healthier and happier. For seeking a novel experience, one need not to go to some strange places or people. It exists at all places and with all people of your familiarity, what is required is only your curiosity to know some thing new about the familiar person or the place.

For awakening and strengthening curiosity, one has to keep practicing it regularly and intentionally though curiosity is an instinctive attribute of all human-beings. It only gets dulled by assumptions of familiarity about things of daily routine. Searching for unfamiliar features of familiar things makes curiosity alive, active and fertile. Try to see a face on a wall scratches, or an animal in a hill-shape. Some exercises in routine working may help in awakening curiosity and looking things in a new light.

Ask Questions to Know More
Firstly, try to know yourself more through answering questions about your attributes you may not know in detail. For example, ask yourself - Why I saw that particular dream yesterday night? You may not know the exact answer but try it any way. You will notice that you are gathering some new information about yourself. Similarly, just ask yourself - what do you like the most - tasty food, beautiful women, visits to new places. Or, just ask yourself - which state of your country attracts you maximum and why? You may frame similar questions about other known persons or places and try collecting answers to those to cultivate your curiosity.

Try Becoming a Keen Listener
Better part of a conversation is always listening and most of the persons are ignorant of this fact. So, even if you are not like this, try to become a keener listener to others. You will learn many new things with every word you listen carefully. Notice the accent of some good orators and later try replicating that in your own way. Idea is to strain yourself to have deeper knowledge with minute details.

Make New Friends
Meeting new persons and discovering about them is a good way of practicing innovative behavior. Every one on this earth is unique and your study must try to know the individual differences your new friends have. Making friends in real life may be difficult and risky, but doing this online is easy and risk-free because of your freedom of turning on/off a contact at will. Making studies on online friends may be difficult but this challenge itself makes you more innovative.

Try Foods to Rediscover Them
You may like or dislike a food just because of some single attribute of it. O.k., now try the same food to discover some new attributes of it forgetting your past feelings about the food. I am sure, although you may or may not like the food as before but you would certainly like your discovery about the food. This itself is good enough to please you.

Think on New Subjects/Topics
This is the most difficult, the most comprehensive and the most educating exercise in innovation. Just choose any subject and forget what you know or do not know about it. Try to think anew about some topic of it. For example, you may take up - if the concept of earth taking round the Sun is wrong, what may be the right motion of the earth with respect to the Sun. Or, why I took birth in this particular family only and not in any other?
King Of Wishful Thinking

This exercise needs that you decide on a topic and jot it down, and let your mind grasp the answer leisurely in a week's time. And whatever comes to your mind at different occasions make notes of the same. Finally, sum up all your thoughts and prepare a nice write-up.

Main idea of all these exercise is to make you a habitual practitioner of curiosity which shall go on providing you with pleasures every now and then through rediscovering life.
